I am pro-relationships, unless adults are unsafe due to living with abuse and/or children are at risk due to ongoing conflict between parents. With respect I explore with couples what they want for their relationship; and offer hope for healing, and dealing with conflict creatively. Some couples have a mixed agenda, while other couples both want to work at the relationship. I work to ensure clients are heard and validated.
The playwright George Bernard Shaw said,
“Life is not meant to be easy, my child; but take courage: it can be delightful” (Back to Methuselah).
Although we do not have ultimate control of our lives, we do have choices about how we act and respond. Amidst the struggles in life, we can experience delight in everyday moments.
My clients teach me so much about relationships, and I am indebted to them! It is a privilege for me to share their life journeys. I believe we are created for relationships, and the most important one is with oneself. Then working at relationships can enhance one’s own personal growth.
I am connected with 2 professional groups for developing and sharpening my counselling skills. Colleagues have commented that in my work I am genuine, non-judgmental, empathic, gently challenging, strength-based, collaborative, and realistic.
In my spare time I enjoy reading novels; singing a cappella with Counterpoint Vocal Ensemble Inc; exercising at Pilates and walking/cycling along the Redcliffe foreshores; and spending time with my family and in my garden! I am also a serving member of Living Faith Lutheran church at Murrumba Downs.
